Life extension of offshore structures : A conceptual framework and fatigue damage models by Ashish Aeran, Stavanger : University of Stavanger, 2019 (PhD thesis UiS, no. 477)Sammendrag
Many offshore structures worldwide are approaching or have already exceeded their original design life. It is important to use the existing infrastructure efficiently and to estimate remaining service life accurately. Fatigue and corrosion are identified as main ageing mechanisms for these structures. Althoug much research has been carried out on understanding these ageing processes, failure has occured and is still occuring in offshore structures. Infact, for these structures, almost 25 % of structural damage requiring repair is classified as fatigue damage.
