Sammendrag
In gothic literature, space is very important. The importance of old manors, castles and grounds in the traditonal gothic novels. But in what ways does these aspect of gothic literature transition into contemporary young adult fantasy? This is what I explore in this thesis.
Through analysing two young adult fantasy books, The Trials of Morrigan Crow and Amari and the Night Brothers, I look at different gothic themes that are apparent in young adult fantasy. I look at how these themes differ from the traditional genre, and how they resemble, and I look at how the importance of space changes when it is literature aimed at young people.
