Hvordan påvirker Covid-19 pandemien studenters reisevalg i kommende sesong?

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemien har ført til at mengder av ny forskning innen turisme og reiselivssektoren. I denne oppgaven er fokuset på problemstillingen:

«Hvordan påvirker Covid-19 Pandemien studenters reisevalg i kommende sesong?»

For å bedre forstå påvirkningen Covid-19 pandemien har på norske studenter reisevalg i kommende sesong. Metoden brukt for oppgaven er kvantitativ metode og datainnsamlings metoden er snøballmetoden. For studie ble det utformet en spørreundersøkelse, som ble distribuert digitalt via sosiale medier. Måleinstrumentet PATS (Zenker et al., 2021) ble implementert i spørreundersøkelsen, samt vaksinasjonsmengde mot Covid-19 viruset som en variabel på grunnlag av tidligere studie (Gursoy et al., 2021).

Sentrale resultater fra studiet er; vellykket implementering av måleinstrumentet PATS (Zenker et al., 2021). Relasjonen mellom PATS og reiseintensjoner utformet faktoren reiseangst, som sammen med faktoren reiseintensjoner ga innblikk i hvordan reiseangst påvirket studenters intensjoner for å reise innenlands og utenlands. Resultatene aksepterte H1, H2, H3 og H4, og gjennom drøfting så man likheter til tidligere nevnte studier, samt en liten endring i utvalgets risikoopplevelse/redsel for eget liv i forhold til reiseintensjoner. Dette viser til at studenter fortsatt er engstelige når de planlegger reiser, men redselen for eget liv er lav og dermed er intensjonene for å reise utenlands relativt høy. Til tross for at studien svakhet ved å ikke være generaliserende, er studien informativ og viser godt potensiale til å gi innblikk i hvordan Covid-19 pandemien har påvirket studenters reisevalg i kommende sesong.

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a wealth of new research in the tourism and tourism sectors. In this thesis, the focus is on the problem:

"How will the Covid-19 Pandemic affect students' travel choices in the coming season?"

To better understand the impact the Covid-19 pandemic has on Norwegian students' travel choices in the coming season. The method used for the task is the quantitative method and the data collection method is the snowball method. For the study, a questionnaire was designed, which was distributed digitally via social media. The measuring instrument PATS (Zenker et al., 2021) was implemented in the survey, as well as the amount of vaccination against the Covid-19 virus as a variable based on a previous study (Gursoy et al., 2021).

The key results from the study are; the successful implementation of the measuring instrument PATS (Zenker et al., 2021). The relationship between PATS and travel intentions shaped the factor travel anxiety, which together with the factor travel intentions provided insight into how travel anxiety affected students' intentions to travel domestically and abroad. The results accepted H1, H2, H3, and H4, and through discussion, we saw similarities to the previously mentioned studies, as well as a small change in the sample's risk experience/fear of own life in relation to travel intentions. This indicates that students are still anxious when planning to travel, but the fear of their own lives is low and thus the intentions to travel abroad are relatively high. Despite the study's weakness in not being generalizing, the study is informative and shows good potential to provide insight into how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected students' travel choices in the coming season.
