In order for companies to gain a competitive advantage in today's society, they have to have good restructuring processes. An important factor for successful change is good internal communication between manager and employee. In light of this, we want to investigate the importance of internal communication and our problem is as follows: "What significance does internal communication have in a change process?"
We have investigated this topic using three research questions:
1. How does internal communication affect employees' motivation for change?2. How can internal communication improve the level of trust between manager and employee?3. What characterizes effective internal communication?
To find answers to our problem, we have conducted a literature review study based on eight articles where the results of these are put together to answer our research questions. The results show that factors such as the opportunity for participation, trust in the management, good communication and a sufficient amount of information about the change help to influence the employees' motivation for change. The level of trust between manager and employee is improved through consistent, meaningful and mutual dialogue. The leader has a key role in internal communication and must be perceived as legitimate for trust to be built. Most of the articles confirmed that the possibility of participation had a positive effect on employees' motivation, but nevertheless cases were discovered where the connection could be the opposite. This was justified by the fact that employees who participated in decisions often had a higher rank and were therefore not afraid to speak out if they disagreed with the changes.
