dc.description.abstract | Air quality management is currently a topic of interest in Ghana, as there are specific targets to be met regarding air pollutant levels in the coming years. To achieve these targets, local authorities need to develop strategies in consultation with the public. However, the decision-making process currently relies heavily on scientific and medical information, which is characterized by uncertainties. This thesis investigates the public's perspectives on air quality and air pollution, as well as the impacts on their lives and health, specifically in the Abossey Okai area of Accra. By selecting this location, the research aims to explore the influence of contextual factors such as social and geographical aspects on people's perceptions and experiences of air pollution and its effects. In this study, air pollution is viewed as an environmental risk, and the tensions between naïve realist and constructionist perspectives on risk and its significance are considered. The study employed qualitative method approach. | |
