| dc.description.abstract | Formålet med denne bacheloroppgaven er å svare på problemstillingen: «Hva er verdien av SalMar ASA våren 2023?». Vi vil estimere SalMar ASAs verdi målt i norske kroner per aksje og gi en handelsanbefaling på bakgrunn av aksjeverdien i markedet.
Oppgaven starter med en presentasjon av selskapet og oppdrettsnæringen for å gi leseren en introduksjon til hvordan SalMar og bransjen opererer. Videre går vi inn på verdsettelsesteorien som vi vil anvende for å estimere aksjeprisen, hvor vi tar for oss metodene for fundamental- og relativ verdsettelse. Deretter gjennomfører vi både en strategisk analyse og regnskapsanalyse, som legger grunnlaget for våre forutsetninger ved estimering av fremtidige kontantstrømmer.
Vi beregner så avkastningskravet og de fremtidige kontantstrømmene til SalMar med utgangspunkt i historiske regnskapstall, og foretar estimeringer basert på den strategiske analysen og regnskapsanalysen. Avkastningskravet blir brukt til å diskontere de fremtidige kontantstrømmene til nåtid, gjennom kontantstrømmodellen. Videre utfører vi en sensitivitetsanalyse. Dette er for å se hvordan endringer i ulike variabler beregnet med skjønnsmessige vurderinger vil påvirke den estimerte aksjeprisen fra den fundamentale verdsettelsen. Deretter gjennomfører vi en relativ verdsettelse som en supplerende metode, hvor vi estimerer en aksjepris som baseres på sammenlignbare selskaper.
Anvendelse av fundamental og relativ verdsettelse resulterer i en aksjepris på henholdsvis 559 NOK og 384 NOK. Vi vekter verdsettelsesmetodene likt og får en endelig aksjepris på 472 NOK. Dette endelige prisestimatet sammenlignes med markedsprisen og gir bakgrunn for vår handelsanbefaling for aksjen. Sluttkursen til SalMar per 08.05.2023 var 450,9 NOK. På bakgrunn av dette estimatet gir vi aksjen til SalMar ASA en hold-anbefaling. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to address the research question: "What is the value of SalMar ASA in spring 2023?" We aim to estimate the value of SalMar ASA in Norwegian kroner per share and provide a trading recommendation based on the prevailing market price. The thesis begins with an overview of the company and the aquaculture industry to provide readers with an introduction to SalMar and its operations. Subsequently, we delve into valuation theory, specifically focusing on fundamental and relative valuation methods. We then conduct a strategic analysis and financial analysis, which serve as the foundation for our assumptions in estimating future cash flows.
By utilizing historical financial data, we calculate the required rate of return and future cash flows of SalMar, incorporating insights from the strategic and financial analyses. The required rate of return is used to discount the future cash flows to present value using the discounted cash flow model. Additionally, we perform a sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of varying key variables, which involve subjective judgments, on the estimated share price derived from the fundamental valuation. Furthermore, we conduct a relative valuation as a supplementary method, estimating a share price based on comparable companies.
The application of both fundamental and relative valuation methods results in share prices of 559 NOK and 384 NOK, respectively. We assign equal weights to these valuation methods, yielding a final share price of 472 NOK. This final price estimate is then compared to the market price, providing the basis for our trading recommendation for SalMar ASA's shares. As of May 8, 2023, the closing price of SalMar was 450.9 NOK. Based on this estimate, we recommend a "hold" position for SalMar ASA shares. | |
