"Det er jo gjengen vår": En kvalitativ studie om hjelpeapparatets erfaringer med den åpne russcenen.

Abstract

Hensikt Benken er en åpen russcene i en mellomstor norsk by, og er plassert i byens sentrumskjerne. Brukerne av den åpne russcenen benytter seg av byens hjelpeapparat og deres tjenestetilbud. På lik linje er også hjelpeapparatet avhengige av å komme i kontakt med rusmiljøet. Denne studiens hensikt er å undersøke hvilke erfaringer hjelpeapparatet har med den åpne russcenen og hvordan den påvirker deres arbeidshverdag.

Metode Det er brukt et kvalitativt forskningsdesign med semistrukturerte intervju, her av tre fokusgruppeintervju og to individuelle intervju. 13 informanter ble rekruttert og det ble anvendt kvalitativ innholdsanalyse for å analysere datamaterialet.

Resultater Fire hovedtema pekte seg ut. Det første var at Benken var et trygt holdepunkt i hverdagen, for både brukerne og hjelpeapparatet. Det andre var at Benken var en friplass for brukerne, og hjelpeapparatet var på deres arena. Det tredje temaet knyttet seg til at Benkens plassering var sentrumsnær og naturlig. Det fjerde og siste temaet var Benkens forebyggende funksjon overfor resten av samfunnet.

Konklusjon Studien identifiserer både fordeler og ulemper med den åpne russcenen, der de positive sidene er overveiende. Faktorer som at det er en konkret plass, synlig og sentrumsnært oppleves positivt og skaper gode arbeidsforhold for hjelpeapparatet. Den åpne russcenen er også en god arena og etablere kontakt og skape relasjoner med miljøet på.

Aims The Bench is an open drug scene in a medium sized Norwegian city and is placed in the middle of downtown. The users of the Bench is in contact with the city´s health workers and what help they can offer. At the same time the health workers are dependent to be able to reach out to the milieu that suffers with substance abuse. This study aim is to discover the experiences health workers have with the open drug scene and how it affects their workday.

Method A qualitative design is used containing three semi structured focus group interviews and two individual interviews. Thirteen participants were recruited, and a qualitative content analysis were used to analyze.

Findings Four main themes emerged. The first was that the Bench was a safe spot in the daily life, for both the health workers and the users of the Bench. The second theme was that it was a free space for the users. The third was related to the placement of the Bench, and that it was natural and in the middle of the city´s center. The fourth and final theme was the Bench and its opportunity to prevent unwanted incidents.

Conclusion The study identifies both benefits and disadvantages regarding the open drug scene, where the positive sides were in majority. Factors like that it is a concrete place, it is visible and downtown, is seen as positive and creates good working conditions for the health workers. The open drug scene is also a good arena to make contact and create relations with the milieu.
