Anestesisykepleieres opplevelse av samarbeidet i det tverrfaglige teamet på operasjonsstuen: Hvilke elementer må ligge til grunn for et velfungerende team? En kvalitativ studie

Abstract

Hensikt: Formålet med denne studien var å se nærmere på anestesisykepleieres opplevelse av teamarbeidet på operasjonsstuen, og hva som er viktig for å få til et velfungerende team, sett fra en anestesisykepleiers perspektiv.

Metode: Studien har blitt gjennomført med en induktiv kvalitativ metode med bruk av semistrukturerte intervju. Utvalget i studien bestod av seks anestesisykepleiere som jobbet på anestesiavdelingen ved et Universitetssykehus på Vestlandet i Norge. Intervjuenes innhold ble analysert ved bruk av kvalitativ innholdsanalyse.

Funn: Ut ifra samlet datamateriale kom vi frem til fire hovedkategorier som beskrev det informantene mente var viktig for å skape et velfungerende team på operasjonsstuen. Våre funn viste at det måtte være 1) Tydelighet i kommunikasjon mellom profesjonene, at anestesisykepleieren måtte ha 2) Mot til å si ifra, det var viktig med 3) Et respektfullt samarbeid og en gjensidig forståelse for hverandres arbeidsoppgaver, og 4) Felles verktøy for opprettholdelse av et systematisk arbeid.

Konklusjon: Anestesisykepleiernes opplevelse av kommunikasjon og teamarbeid i det tverrfaglige teamet på operasjonsstuen var stort sett god, men det var rom for forbedring. Tydelighet i kommunikasjon tverrprofesjonelt, mot til å si ifra ved usikkerhet, gjensidig respekt og forståelse av hverandres arbeidsoppgaver, og felles systemer for et systematisk arbeid var avgjørende elementer for et velfungerende operasjonsteam.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to take a closer look at anaesthesia nurses´ experience of the interdisciplinary teamwork in the operating room, and what is important to achieve a well-functional team, seen from an anaesthesia nurse´s perspective.

Method: The method used in this study was an inductive qualitative method using semi-structured interviews. Our sample included six Nurse Anaesthetists working at the ward of Anaesthesia in one of the University Hospitals in Western Norway. Data collected was analysed through qualitative content-analysis.

Findings: Based on collected data, we found four main categories which described what the informants found important to create a well-functioning team in the operating room. Our findings showed that there must be 1) Clear communication between the professions, the anaesthesia nurse must have 2) Courage to speak out, the importance of a 3) Respectful collaboration and mutual understanding of each other´s work, and 4) Common tools to maintain a systematic work.

Conclusion: The anaesthesia nurses´ experience of communication and collaboration in the interdisciplinary team at the operation room was mainly satisfying, but there is room for improvements. Clear interprofessional communication, having the courage to speak out when being uncertain, mutual respect and understanding for each other's tasks, and shared tools and systems to maintain a systematic work are all elements of importance for a well-functioning operating team.
