dc.description.abstractThe aim of this thesis consists of a descriptive evaluation of the existing transport infrastructure in the area of Næringspark, the business area of Forus, Stavanger. The study outlines the built environment of Forus, the accessibility and connectivity for the different modes of transport within the transport infrastructure and the challenges that the area is experiencing in relation to land destined for parking. With the goal to answer the follow research questions, the analysis evaluates the travel times, the population covered by the transport infrastructure, the parking coverage of the area and the evaluation of the existing inter-municipal plans for future developments. How many people are car dependent when travelling to/from Forus? Which areas? Which workplaces are car-promoting through parking? How will parking restrictions impact on the area to reduce the use of the car? The results for this analysis come from a technical geographic information system (GIS) to describe the travel times with isochrones for each mode of transport and catchment areas, literature review for a theoretical description of the concepts of this thesis and visits to the area to understand the built environment and the existing challenges.
