Smertelindring til opioidavhengige pasienter inneliggende på sykehus – utfordringer og holdninger

Abstract

Bakgrunn: Smertelindring til rusavhengige er et tema mange sykepleiere synes er utfordrende. Mangel på kunnskap og negative holdninger er noen av utfordringene som går igjen blant sykepleierne. Stigma og forhåndsdømming basert på pasientgruppens bakgrunn og historie har en negativ innvirkning på den behandlingen de mottar på sykehus.

Hensikt: Hensikten med oppgaven er å fremheve utfordringer, kunnskapsbehovet og holdninger sykepleiere møter ved smertelindring til pasienter med opioidavhengighet i sykehus.

Metode: Oppgaven er bygd opp som en integrativ litteraturstudie basert på vitenskapelige forskningsartikler, hvor dataene skal danne en ny forståelse.

Resultater: Resultatene viser at sykepleiere står overfor flere utfordringer når de møter opioidavhengige pasienter på sykehus Disse utfordringene omfatter negative holdninger, begrenset erfaring og kunnskap, stigma og manipulasjon. Samlet sett fører disse faktorene til manglende tilfredstillelse av pasientgruppens behov for smertelindring

Background: Pain relief for substance-dependent individuals is a challenging topic for many nurses. Lack of knowledge and negative attitudes are some of the challenges commonly encountered among nurses. Stigma and preconceptions based on the patient group's background and history have a negative impact on the treatment they receive in hospitals.

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to highlight the challenges, knowledge needs, and attitudes nurses encounter when providing pain relief to patients with opioid dependence in hospitals.

Method: The assignment is structured as an integrative literature review based on scientific research articles, where the data will form a new understanding.

Results: The results indicate that nurses face several challenges when encountering opioid-dependent patients in hospitals. These challenges include negative attitudes, limited experience and knowledge, stigma, and manipulation. Collectively, these factors lead to a lack of satisfaction in meeting the pain relief needs of this patient group.
