dc.description.abstract | Bakgrunn:
Operasjonssykepleiere inngår som en del av operasjonsteamet og har en viktig rolle i det å skape en atmosfære på operasjonsstuen som oppleves trygg for barn og foreldre som skal gjennomgå elektiv dagkirurgi.
Hensikt:
Hensikten med denne studien var å undersøke hvordan operasjonssykepleiere erfarer sin rolle i møtet med barn og deres foreldre i forbindelse med elektiv dagkirurgi. Vi ønsket å synliggjøre hvordan operasjonssykepleierne selvstendig og som medlem av operasjonsteamet medvirket til å skape trygghet hos barn og foreldre.
Metode:
Vi har gjennomført en kvalitativ studie hvor data ble samlet inn gjennom syv individuelle intervju med operasjonssykepleiere tilknyttet en dagkirurgisk avdeling ved et universitetssykehus i Norge. Det innsamlede datamateriale ble transkribert og analysert ved hjelp av kvalitativ innholdsanalyse.
Resultat:
Funn fra den kvalitative innholdsanalysen resulterte i to hovedkategorier: å skape en trygg atmosfære på operasjonsstuen gjennom godt teamarbeid og å fremme trygghet hos barnet og deres foreldre.
Konklusjon:
Studien belyste viktigheten av operasjonssykepleieres ikke-tekniske ferdigheter og hvordan situasjonsbevissthet, god kommunikasjon og klar rolleforståelse bidro til å skape godt samarbeid i operasjonsteamet, samt en trygg atmosfære på operasjonsstuen for barnet og deres foreldre.

dc.description.abstract | Background:
Perioperative nurses´ are considered to be an important member of the surgical team, they also contribute to create a safe atmosphere in the operating room for children undergoing elective day surgery.
Aim:
The aim of this study was to examine how perioperative nurses´ experience their role when interacting with children and their parents when undergoing elective day surgery. The aim was also to highlight how the perioperative nurses´ can make the child and their parents feel safe.
Method:
We conducted a qualitative study where data were collected through seven individual interviews with perioperative nurses´ employed at a day surgical department at a hospital In Norway. The data material was transcribed and analyzed by using a qualitative content analysis.
Results:
Findings from the qualitative content analysis resulted in two main categories: creating a safe atmosphere in the operating room through good teamwork and promoting a sense of safety for the child and their parents.
Conclusion:
The study highlighted the importance of perioperative nurses´ non-technical skills and how situational awareness, effective communication and a clear role understanding contributed to enhance the teamwork, as well as creating a safe atmosphere for the child and parent.
