| dc.description.abstract | This thesis explores the subject of blockchain technology use in supply chain management. Its objectives were to research how well adopted blockchain has become in various industries by major and minor companies, and see how well it has fared in its use. Based on the methods found with which blockchain has been implemented by other, proposals were constructed for how blockchain might be utilized and useful for an upcoming Sri Lankan based agricultural company Starch Industries ltd. The key findings are that blockchain has been implemented by several major companies for various uses, with varied success. There are also several areas where blockchain might be of use to the running of Starch industries ltd, but they are hard to quantify, and the practical implementation is unclear. The main conclusion is that blockchain might require further development and adoption by companies with significant resources, which then will create standards, models, infrastructures, and services that other companies can benefit from. However, at present, blockchain implementation will not be considered for the operations of Starch Industries ltd beyond any experimental tests. | |
