dc.description.abstract
This thesis takes an approach to a static structural analysis of a selected cable-stayed bridge using the finite element method (FEM). The bridge selected for analysis is the Skarnsund Bridge, located in Norway's middle district of Trøndelag. It was a world record-breaking bridge at the time of construction and still holds the world record for the longest main span of a concrete cable-stayed bridge at 530 m. The thesis aims to develop a 3D solid model with cable elements to model the bridge based on available information. It will also include non-linear analysis with the cable sag effect, large deformation effect, and P-Delta effect. Different load cases will determine the model's stability.
