Veien blir til mens man går - Hvilke faktorer påvirker utdanningsvalg for de som har tatt fagbrev i lys av teorien om rasjonelle valg?

Denne oppgaven handler om yrkesvalg og hvordan mennesker ser på seg selv og på sine valg av utdanning. Jeg ønsker å belyse hvordan utdanningsvalg blir tatt, og hva det har å si for mennesker å ta yrkesfaglig utdanning.

Å velge utdanning starter tidlig. Man velger sitt første steg allerede som 10. klassing, da man setter kursen for videre muligheter for utdanning og jobbmuligheter. Videre tar man nye valg det andre året på videregående, som igjen kan resultere i valgmuligheter for eksempel hvilke fag man kan velge å gå ut som lærling innen. Alle disse valgene blir gjort når man er ung, og som ungdom bruker man også mye tid på å finne seg selv og sin plass i samfunnet.

Oppgaven tar for seg teorien om rasjonelle valg for å se på om utdanningsvalg blir tatt på rasjonell bakgrunn. I tillegg blir begrepene «selvet», og «frontstage» og «backstage» brukt for å se på hvordan lærlingene ser på seg selv.

Oppgaven er bygget på empiri gjennom intervjuer med tidligere lærlinger i forskjellige lærefag, deres utdanningsvalg, og hva det har gjort med dem som personer.

Oppgaven konkluderer med at kandidatene er fornøyde med valgene de har tatt opp gjennom ungdomsårene. Gjennom de handlingsalternativene de har, blir valgene tatt på en rasjonell måte. Stort sett er valgene av utdanning rasjonelle med tanke på at de er veloverveide. Selv om kandidatene har forskjellige veier de har tatt, svarer alle det samme når det kommer til om de skulle ønske at de gjorde noe annerledes. Veien blir til mens man går. Jeg fant at utvikling av «Selvet» og forståelse for arbeidslivets «Frontstage» er noe av det viktigste man tar med seg videre fra en fullført læretid.

This assignment is about career choices and how people look at themselves and their choices of education. I want to shed light on how educational choices are made, and what it means for people to take profession education.

Choosing an education starts early. You choose your first step already as 10th grade, when you set the course for further opportunities for education and job opportunities. Furthermore, new choices are made in the second year of upper secondary school, which in turn can result in choices such as which subjects you can choose to take as an apprentice. All these choices are made when you are young, and as a young person you also spend a lot of time finding yourself and your place in society.

The assignment deals with Rational Choice Theory to look at whether educational choices are made on a rational background. In addition, the terms "self", and "frontstage" and "backstage" are used to look at how the apprentices look at themselves.

The assignment is based on empirical data through interviews with former apprentices in different subjects, their educational choices, and what it has done to them as individuals.

The assignment concludes that the candidates are satisfied with the choices they have made during their youth. Through the options they have, the choices are made in a rational way. For the most part, the choices of education are rational given that they are well thought out. Although the candidates have different paths they have taken, they all respond the same when it comes to whether they wish they did something different. The path accurse while walking. I found that developing "The Self" and understanding the working life "Frontstage" is one of the most important things you take with you from a completed apprenticeship.
