dc.description.abstract | An article titled "A Phonon Laser", reported an experiment. Where a Mg+ ion was placed in a harmonic potential. It was pushed by two lasers, pointing in the same direction. One laser pushed when the Mg+ ion went towards it. And thereby slowing it down. The other laser pushed when the Mg+ ion went away from it. And thereby doing positive work on it. For this thesis I have simulated the Mg ions motion. The behaviors shown here are damped oscillations, amplified oscillations and stable oscillations. | |
