dc.description.abstract | In adaptive filtering, the LMS algorithm is the simplest and most widely used algorithm.
Because it is simple, it has some weaknesses. A better filter will
then be the NSAF algorithm which requires a lot of computational power but has good
convergence rate. In this bachelor's thesis, we investigated a modified
variant of the NLMS algorithm that requires less computational power. This
the algorithm has low mathematical complexity (and thus requires low
power) and is robust to input signals with colored content. It is
based on the NSAF algorithm and preconditioning theory. This algorithm
shall have convergence properties approximately equal to the preconditioned Richardson iteration.
We tested this algorithm by simulation in MatLab and
assessed its usefulness in relation to the LMS and NLMS algorithm. Further
we implemented different variants of all these filters to find out how
one can optimize their overall performance and convergence speed.
