The overall aim of this study is to examine people's preferences for the further development of onshore wind turbines in Norway, with a particular focus on whether people's concerns about climate change influence the adoption of wind turbines. We also seek to find out if there are any gender differences in wind turbine preferences and attitudes towards climate change. The method chosen to achieve the goal is the discrete choice experiments (DCE) through a questionnaire. The number of respondents used in our analysis is 355, of which 152 are women and 203 are men. Econometric models are used to estimate the preferences: the Multinomial logit model and Mixed Multinomial logit model. The results show that, in general, people in Norway still have a negative attitude towards the future development of onshore wind turbines and require compensation for the acceptance of new development, and climate change concerns have been a factor in causing the population to reduce this compensation. Although we find evidence that confirms the presence of gender differences in attitudes towards climate change, our results do not provide complete evidence that women have more favorable preferences for wind turbines. It turns out that women, like men, demand compensation for the acceptance of new wind turbines. While we do not find a statistically significant difference in mean WTA between the gender, we do find an economically significant difference, as women's WTA is almost half that of men, which in turn may indicate the presence of gender differences in wind turbine preferences.
