This bachelor's thesis is based on the conditions surrounding outsourcing of accounting functions and the factors that influence the decision to purchase such a service from a subcontractor. The accounting process has undergone significant development in recent years, particularly with the modernization of accounting systems from local systems to cloud-based systems.
To shed light on this, a qualitative research method was employed. Ten semi-structured research interviews were conducted with ten companies, where five handle their accounting processes themselves while the other five have outsourced these processes to BDO.
The results from the interviews indicate that a company's own capital and competance are crucial in the decision to outsource, and the modernization of cloud-based accounting systems with the possibility of segregating accounting functions can influence the decision but is not a deceisive factor
