resultatene som i “A Contribution to the Empirics of Economic Growth” av N. Gregory
blir undersøkt i forskningsartikkelen.
dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the thesis is to examine if data from a newer period over 25 years will give the
same results as in “A Contribution to the Empirics of Economic Growth” by N. Gregory
Mankiw, David Romer and David N. Weil (1992).
In the theory part, it will be accounted for different economic models and theories that
contribute to a better understanding of long-run economic growth and convergence. The most
central models are the original Solow-model and an augmented Solow-model that takes account
of human capital. To answer the problem statement, we use different samples of countries and
different regressions regarding different theories. Data is collected from multiple organizations
which promote global development and transparency, consisting of four samples: non-oil
dependent countries, every country with available data, countries in the OECD and countries
that aren’t in the OECD.
The analysis shows results on the different regressions that mainly show the same results as in
the research paper. There are however some differences that are worth noticing. Among other
things, in newer times there are multiple other variables that contribute to economic growth
than it was in the period the research paper was completed
