Abstract
In today's world, where misinformation spreads rampantly, the pressing need for reliable fact-checking solutions is greater than ever. Manual fact-checking is a daunting task, emphasising the need for efficient and engaging solutions. This collaborative thesis with Factiverse focuses on increasing user engagement by gamifying the fact-checking applications within the platform. The main objective is to combat misinformation by developing a personalised dashboard for fact-checking applications, providing users with a seamless and interactive experience. The dashboard aims to enhance user engagement and accessibility, empowering individuals to participate in the fight against misinformation actively. Through user feedback, the thesis identifies a user base interested in fact-checking applications that respond positively to gamification. The thesis suggests future directions for the platform, including increased customisation options, user data aggregation, and fact-checking and microfact minigames. We also present a process for organising a team project, which results in good documentation of intentions and goals.
