dc.description.abstract
This paper explores the effects of the war in Ukraine on the European Union's energy policies and future plans for a green transition of the energy sector. Using a mixed-methods approach, including surveys and analysis of policy documents, the study investigates how the war has affected policy changes, public opinion on energy policy matters, and the transition to renewable and sustainable energy. The findings suggest that the war has had a significant impact on the EU's energy policies, resulting in a shift towards greater emphasis on energy security and diversification of energy sources. Additionally, the study reveals that public opinion has changed, with a greater focus on a secure and robust energy supply. However, the transition to renewable and sustainable energy has remained a priority for the EU. The paper concludes that the war in Ukraine has provided the EU with an opportunity to further its climate goals and push towards sustainable energy sources, which could have important implications for the future of energy policy in the EU.
