Kunstig intelligens i beslutningsprosesser

Abstract

Kunstig intelligens er et tema som har blitt veldig «inn i tiden», og bruken av teknologien har utviklet seg eksepsjonelt. Flere organisasjoner er blitt klar over de mulighetene som finnes ved å ta i bruk den intelligente teknologien. Samtidig har utfordringene blitt mer fremtredende. Målet med denne oppgaven er å se på mulighetene og utfordringene ved å bruke kunstig intelligens i beslutningsprosesser, og undersøke om mulighetene veier tyngre enn utfordringene under implementeringen. Gjennom kvalitativ forskningsmetode har vi valgt å gjennomføre ett dybdeintervju med selskapet KPMG. Det ble brukt en kombinasjon av resultatene fra intervjuet og teorien til å diskutere temaet og problemstillingen.

Flere organisasjoner viser økt interesse for temaet, men mangel på kompetanse skaper utfordringer for å bruke teknologien på en forsvarlig måte. Det finnes mange muligheter ved å ta i bruk AI i beslutninger som økt effektivitet, større informasjonsgrunnlag og forsterkning av menneskelig kompetanse. I tillegg finnes det en del utfordringer som forsterkning av skjevheter, plassering av ansvar, forklarbar AI og personvern. På bakgrunn av de utfordringene som skjuler seg i skyggen av mulighetene, er det mer naturlig å bruke AI som et verktøy, fremfor å erstatte ansatte i organisasjonene. Hovedfunnene i oppgaven viser at mulighetene og utfordringene henger sammen. Selv om mulighetene kan drive organisasjoner til å implementere AI i beslutningene, er det viktig å ta hensyn til utfordringene som følger med. Kunnskap om AI vil stå sentralt i videreutviklingen av teknologien og det er viktig at organisasjoner er mottakelige for teknologiens potensial. Da kunstig intelligens i beslutningsprosesser fremdeles er et tema som er i sterk utvikling, vil vi til slutt legge frem noen forslag til videre forskning.

Artificial intelligence is a topic that has become very relevant today and the technology has developed exceptionally. Several organizations have become aware of the opportunities that arise by adopting this intelligent technology. At the same time, the challenges have become more prominent. The aim of this thesis is to consider the opportunities and challenges by using artificial intelligence in decision-making processes and investigate whether the opportunities outweigh the challenges in the implementation. Through using a qualitative research method, we have chosen to conduct an in-depth interview with the company KPMG. A combination of the results from the interview and the theory was used to discuss the topic and thesis question.

Several organizations are showing an increased interest in the topic; however, the lack of knowledge creates challenges for using the technology in a responsible way. There are many opportunities by using AI in decisions such as increased efficiency, greater information foundation and strengthening of human competence. In addition, there are several challenges such as reinforcement of biases, responsibility placement, “the black box problem” and privacy. Considering the challenges that are hiding behind the opportunities, it is more fitting to use AI as a tool rather than as a replacement for employees in organizations. The main finding of the study indicate that the opportunities and challenges are tied together. Although the opportunities may drive organizations to implement AI in decision-making, it is essential to consider the challenges that accompany these opportunities. Knowledge of AI will be central to the further development of the technology, and it is important that organizations are receptive for the technology’s potential. As artificial intelligence in decision-making processes remains a topic that is continuously evolving, we will ultimately suggest some proposals for further research.
