This study investigated how the physiological symptoms of PCOS affects the mental health of the individuals that has the disorder, with a focus on the anxiety and depression. This study is a literature review, which analyses and summarizes existent literature to make assumptions based on the facts collected. The data was collected by using search words related to the thesis question. The keywords wad then used in different search engines that supports peer-reviewed articles. These articles where then carefully selected to an exclusion criterion, till I was left with four articles. This thesis is based on four articles that studied the correlations between PCOS, body-image and mental health. Based on the data collected, there seems to be a correlation between PCOS, body-image and mental health. This seems to be because of how the different aspects of the illness plays a role. If we look at the biopsychosocial model, there is the physical aspects of the illness, then there is the mental health of the individual and then we can look at how the stigmatization of the physical symptoms can affect the patient.
