«Do I belong here?» - om barns og foreldres opplevelser tilknytning i etterkant av tilbakeføring

Abstract

Det norske barnevernet tenderer å ilegge tilknytningsteori stor vekt i vurderinger av saker som angår omsorgsovertakelser og tilbakeføringer. Til tross for tilknytningsteoriens fremtredende posisjon i praksisfeltet har vil lite kvalitativ forskning på hvordan barns tilknytningsstil og relasjonen mellom foreldre og barn påvirkes av tilbakeføring etter opphold utenfor den biologiske familien. Oppgavens hensikt er å undersøke hvordan tilbakeføring oppleves for barn og foreldre og hvordan dette kan forstås i lys av tilknytningsteori og narrativ teori. Metoden er litteraturstudie, og problemstillingen belyses ved hjelp av tre utvalgte forskningsartikler av nyere dato. Resultatene fra de valgte studiene gav to hovedtema som viser at barn og foreldre i denne gruppen opplever ambivalens i forhold til hverandre. Mye tyder på at det ikke støttes godt nok opp under barn-foreldre-relasjonen etter det opprinnelige relasjonsbruddet som oppstår ved omsorgsovertakelser. Funnene tegner et bilde av kompliserte relasjoner både til hverandre og til egne følelser ovenfor den andre. Mye tyder på at disse barna og foreldrene føler både på nærhet og avstand til hverandre.

The Norwegian Child Welfare Service tends to attach great importance to attachment theory in assessments of cases concerning out of home placements and returns. Despite the prominent position attachment theory holds in the field, there has been little qualitative research into how children's attachment style and the relationship between parents and children are affected by return after a out of home placements. The purpose of the assignment is to investigate how reunification is experienced by children and parents and how this can be understood in the light of attachment theory and narrative theory. The method is a literature study, and the problem is elucidated with the help of three selected research articles of recent date. The results from the selected studies yielded two main themes which show that children and parents in this group experience ambivalence in relation to each other. There are indications that the child-parent relationship is not supported well enough after the original break in the relationship that occurs when care of children is moved outisde the family home. The findings paint a picture of complicated relationships both to each other and to one's own feelings towards the other. There are many indications that these children and their parents feel both closeness and distance to each other.
