Sammendrag
The article presents literature that analyses recent changes in the book industry: concentration of publishing firms, commercialisation, and introduction of new digital technologies. The article pays special attention to John B. Thompson’s Books in the Digital Age, which is criticised for having an externalist and one-sided analysis of the role technology plays in shaping the book and the book business.
