Turisme-ledet gentrifisering gjennom korttidsutleie

Abstract

I denne oppgaven vil vi ta for oss problemstillingen “I hvilken grad kan korttidsleie-plattformer bidra til turisme-ledet gentrifisering på turistdestinasjoner?” og vil se nærmere på temaene gentrifisering og sammenhengen mellom gentrifisering, korttidsutleie, ferieboliger og turisme i forhold til problemstillingen. I denne oppgaven har det blitt valgt å bruke metoden litteraturoversikt hvor vi tar for oss 6 eksisterende artikler og deres funn for så å sammenligne resultatene. Det vil først bli gjennomgått teori som vil være relevant og sentralt for å kunne få en bedre forståelse av resten av oppgaven. Videre ble det i metodekapittelet gått gjennom forarbeidet og prosessen som er blitt fulgt. Resultatene som ble funnet har blitt samlet og organisert etter artikkel i vedlegg 2 og i resultatkapittelet blir disse resultatene kategorisert for å kunne se hvilke data som sier noe om det samme. Disse resultatene blir i resultatdiskusjonen sammenlignet med teori om ‘turisme-ledet gentrifisering’, ‘bærekraft’, ‘delingsøkonomi’ og ‘politikk’. Sentrale resultater hentet ut fra artiklene blir sammenlignet med indikasjoner på turisme-ledet gentrifisering for å finne svar på om turisme-ledet gentrifisering på grunn av korttidsleie har forekommet i de seks byene. Det ble funnet tegn som tyder på at korttidsleie-plattformer er en bidragsyter til gentrifisering. Resultatkapittelet tar også for seg forslag til videre forskning innenfor gentrifisering og korttidsleie og reguleringer.

In this thesis we will address the issue "To what extent can short-term rental platforms contribute to tourism-led gentrification on tourist destinations?" and will take a closer look at the topic of gentrification and the connection between gentrification, short-term rentals, holiday rentals and tourism in relation to our chosen issue. In this thesis, we chose to use the method ‘literature overview’ where we consider six existing articles and their findings and then compare the results. We will first review the theory which will be relevant and central in order to gain a better understanding of the rest of the thesis. Furthermore, the method chapter reviews the preparatory work and the process that has been followed through the whole thesis. The results found have been compiled and organized according to the articles in the second attachment and in the result chapter these results have been categorized in order to see which data says something about the same issue. These results have in the results discussion been compared to theories about 'tourism-led gentrification', 'sustainability', 'sharing economy' and 'politics'. Key results derived from the articles are compared with indications of tourism-led gentrification to find answers to whether tourism-led gentrification due to short-term rentals has occurred in the six cities. Evidence was found that short-term rental platforms are a contributor to gentrification. The results chapter also deals with proposals for further research within gentrification, short-term rentals and policies.
