Summary
The thesis aims to study what organizational structural changes a public organization can undergo by implementing innovation in its strategic goals. Previous research suggests that a lot of findings have been made on how innovation affects the private sector, but there is relatively little research done on innovation within municipalities apart from e.g. the Danish municipality reform in 2007. The method used is qualitative document analyzes that deal with Sola municipality and its innovation work in recent years. The empirical analysis that was carried out in this task made findings that structural changes can take place as well as changes in the physical organizations through strategic use of innovation within a public organization such as Sola municipality. The findings are based on the fact that there have been some structural and physical changes in the implementation of innovation.
