Vikingtiden i England

Abstract

I denne oppgaven skal jeg se på vikingtiden i England. Først og fremst skal jeg ta utgangspunkt i de tilgjengelige kildene man har om vikingene og deres tid i England. Før så å se litt på det norrøne samfunnet og hvordan det var satt opp og hvordan det kan ledet til dannelsen av større vikinghærer som for eksempel den store hedninghæren. Deretter skal jeg forsøke å ta for meg det daglige livet i Danelagen England hvor jeg fokuserer på byen Jorvik (York). Og til avslutning så ser jeg på hvordan vikingtiden i England kom til en slutt.

This assignment shall focus on the viking age in England. Firstly I shall discuss the available sources and the relevance. Secondly, I'll look at the Scandinavian society at that time, and how it functioned and how it could have led to the creation of larger viking armies such as the great heathe army. Thirdly, I'll focus on the daily life in the Danelaw by primarliy looking at the town of Jorvik(York). And lastly, I'll look at how the viking age in England concluded.
