dc.description.abstract
Cinematography is a form of art that is considered as the most essential part in filmmaking because without it, there won't be visual storytelling to begin with. We often hear that there is a certain manipulation in filmmaking. In this thesis report, I discussed the different theories, explained what cinematography is, elobrated on what the cinematographer does, investigated the different techniques in cinematography, analyzed different films such as Parasite, Titanic and Inception. Moreover, i implemented all the theories and research through my own bachelor film "Estrella" in order to test my hypothesis. In the end fo this research I concluded the existence of manipulation in filmaking. Lastly, I tried to find out on how filmmakers use different techniques in framing and composition to manipulate the audience's perspective and emotional interpretation of a scene.
