Piratenes gullalder: En politisk protest

Abstract

I denne oppgaven vil jeg gjennom bruk av primær og sekundærkilder drøfte hvordan gullalderens pirater kan bli sett på som en reaksjon og protest mot deres samtids samfunnsendringer, samt undersøke hvordan de utgjorde en trussel for det britiske imperiets økonomi og suverenitet. Dette vil jeg gjøre ved å analysere hvorfor disse piratene sluttet seg til piratvirksomheten, hvordan de organiserte sin sosiale verden og undersøke hvilke konsekvenser de skapte for Storbritannia og dets kolonier.

In this paper, I will, through the use of primary and secondary sources, discuss how the pirates of the golden age can be seen as a reaction and protest against their contemporary societal changes, as well as examine how they posed a threat to the British Empire's economy and sovereignty. I will do this by analyzing why these pirates joined the piracy business, how they organized their social world and examine the consequences they created for Britain and its colonies.
