Elevers forståelse av Annas himmel knyttet til emnet folkehelse og livsmestring i norsk.

Abstract

Et nytt og viktig tema i skolen er det tverrfaglige temaet folkehelse og livsmestring. Lærere må derfor øke kunnskapen om hvordan arbeide med temaet i norskfaget. Avhandlingens formål var å undersøke hvordan elever forstod bildeboka Annas himmel i norskfaget og hvordan arbeidet ga innsikt i temaet livsmestring. Målet med avhandlingen har også vært å øke kunnskapen til lærere om hvordan ta i bruk en bildebok i arbeidet med livsmestring i norskfaget basert på elevenes forståelse av Annas himmel. Arbeidet gir lærere et innblikk i elevers tanker og refleksjoner omkring Annas himmel. Ved å undersøke elevenes perspektiv på bildeboka, med hjelp av metodene høytlesning, loggskriving og litterære samtaler, har analysen gitt innsikt i elevenes forståelse av boka.

Informantene ga både skriftlig og muntlig respons på spørsmål utformet med utgangspunkt i avhandlingens formål. Analysen av resultatet viste at elevene oppdaget mange elementer i boka, men de tolket elementene i liten grad. Elevene må inviteres til å samtale om hva elementene betyr for dem. Bakgrunnen hang sammen med elevenes kulturelle og litterære kompetanse. Annas himmel inneholdt mange karakteristiske grep, som intertekstualitet/intervisualitet, tomme plasser, symbol og surrealisme. Elevene responderte ulikt til de forskjellige grepene, noe som viste at elevene har behov for økt erfaring med å tolke tekster som tematiserer vanskelige tema. Mer tolkning av tekster tilsvarende Annas himmel kan forhåpentligvis bidra til at elevene forstår egne og andres følelser og erfaringer bedre, og på denne måten blir bedre i stand til å møte de utfordringene livet byr på.

A new and important theme in school is the interdisciplinary theme of public health and life skills. Teachers must increase their knowledge of how to work with the theme life skills in Norwegian subjects at school. The purpose of this master’s thesis was to investigate how students understood the picture book Annas himmel in the Norwegian subject and how the work provided insight into the theme life skills. The aim of the master’s thesis has also been to increase teachers’ knowledge how to use a picture book in the work with life skills in Norwegian subject based on the student’s understanding of Annas himmel. The work gives teachers an insight into student’s thoughts and reflections about Annas himmel. By investigating the student’s perspective on the picture book, using the methods of reading aloud, log writing and literary conversations, the analysis has provided insight into the student’s understanding of the book.

The students gave both a written and an oral response to the questions designed based on the thesis. The result of the analysis documented that the student’s discovered many elements in the book, but they interpreted the elements to a small degree. Student’s must therefore be invited to discuss what these elements mean to them. The background was related to the student’s cultural and literary competence. Annas himmel contained many characteristic features, like intertextuality/intervisuality, empty spaces, symbolism and surrealism. The students responded differently to the different grips, which documented that the students need increased experience in interpreting texts that thematize difficult topics. More interpreting of texts similar to Annas himmel will hopefully help the students to better understand their own and others feelings and experiences better, and in this way become better capable to meet the challenges in life.
