Urbefolkning og kulturformidling

Abstract

Studien inngår i fagfeltet Host - Guest Encounters, med fokus på urbefolkningers kulturformidling. Ut fra problemstillingen: Hvordan bør samenes kultur formidles for turister i Norge? forsøker studien å svare på hvordan samenes kultur kan formidles på en pedagogisk og respektfull måte til besøkende, og på denne måten gi turister en positiv, kulturell læringsopplevelse uten at det går på bekostning av samenes integritet. Problemstillingen besvares ved å ta for seg både urbefolkningers- og turisters syn på egen kultur, og deres erfaringer med kulturformidling. Oppgaven er en litteraturstudie, og studiens data består av 8 artikler. Gjennom grundig analyse og drøfting av data opp mot relevant teori, konkluderes det med at kulturformidling blant urbefolkning er et komplisert tema, og det er ingen klar fasit for hvordan samenes kultur bør formidles for turister i Norge. Pedagogisk læring, i form av storytelling og samhandling, har vist seg å være positiv for både urbefolkning og turister, der urbefolkningen får fortalt sin egen sannhet, og samtidig lærer opp turistene så de kan oppnå en felles forståelse. Bruk av storytelling og samhandling i kulturformidlingen kan dermed være en god framgangsmåte for at samer og turister kan oppnå en felles forståelse for samenes kultur.

This study is written within the field of Host - Guest Encounters, focusing on indigenous peoples cultural dissemination. With the research question: How should Sami peoples' culture be conveyed to tourists in Norway?, the study attempts to give an answer as to how the Sami peoples culture can be conveyed to visitors in an educational and respectful way, and in this way give tourists a positive, cultural experience without compromising the integrity of the Sami peoples. The research question is answered by addressing the cultural view of both indigenous peoples and tourists, and their experiences with cultural dissemination. This study is a literature review, and the data of the study consists of 8 articles. Through thorough analysis and discussion of data and theoretical foundation, the study concludes that cultural dissemination is a complicated subject, and there is no clear answer to how Sami peoples’ culture should be conveyed in Norway. Pedagogical communication, through storytelling and interaction, has shown to be positive for both indigenous peoples and tourists, where the indigenous peoples teach tourists in order to achieve a mutual understanding. Use of storytelling and interaction can thus be a good approach for Sami peoples and tourists to gain a mutual understanding of the Sami culture.
