dc.description.abstract
Humor is a universal phenomenon that is widely used in everyday communication and interaction with other people. Humor increase the feeling of happiness and releases tensions along with improving well-being. Social work is about improving individuals well-being. Although there are little empirical and theoretical evidence within the use of humor in social work, earlier research has revealed that humor has a positive impact on the Interaction and relationship between social worker and the individual with autism spectrum disorder. In addition humor has revealed impact on the social-worker himself by increasing resilience, self-esteem and prevent negatively emotions and burnouts. Further research needs to investigate how the social-worker can use humor in different social contexts with individuals with ASD. Results from these studies can later on be used in humor-training programs to increase the likelihood of using humor in the field of social work when working with ASD.
