Abstract

Isaac Asimovs I, Robot er en kolleksjon av noveller som handler om mennesker og roboter, og hvordan konfliktene som skjer i en slik verden blir løst. Gjennom disse novellene er problemet om fordommer mot roboter et økende og vedvarende tema. Konfliktene som oppstår er ofte forårsaket av menneskelige handlinger, om de er med vilje eller ei, og er løst med forståelse og sympati mot robotene. Avhandlinger argumenterer derfor for at Asimovs I, Robot har en verden som har en fordomsfullt syn på roboter, hvor de som går i mot og behandler dem med vennlighet er de som til slutt trives.

Isaac Asimov’s I, Robot is an anthology collection with stories about humans and robots, and whatever conflict that may occur that must be solved. Throughout these stories, the issue of prejudice against robots becomes a prominent and prevalent theme. The conflicts that arise within the narratives are more than often caused by either accidental or malicious human actions, where solving them involves attempting to understand and sympathise with the robots. This is where the thesis argues that Asimov’s I, Robot have the prevalent dynamic of prejudice baked into its world’s society, and that those that go against it and treat robots with kindness are those that prosper.
