Turismeutvikling og Lokalt Engasjement i UNESCOs verdensarvsteder

Abstract

Hensikten med denne bacheloroppgaven var å utforske ulike konsekvenser som kommer av UNESCO verdensarvturisme og dets påvirkninger på lokalsamfunnene. Problemstillingen som er valgt for denne oppgaven er: «Hvilke konsekvenser finnes det ved UNESCO WH-anerkjennelse på en destinasjon». Første del av denne oppgaven presenteres teorien. Den danner grunnlaget for senere diskusjon sammen med resultatene av forskningsartiklene. I tillegg til å gi en generell oversikt over UNESCOs formål, vil denne oppgaven omfatte tidligere forskning på turismens konsekvenser samt besøksforvaltning. Det ble anvendt en systematisk litteraturanalyse for å kunne besvare på den valgte problemstillingen. Ved litteratursøket ble det valgt ut åtte ulike forskningsartikler som skulle redegjøres og drøftes. Utfra utarbeidelsen av denne oppgaven vil vi kunne se at turismeutviklingen vil ha mange positive og negative virkninger på en destinasjon, spesielt på et lokalsamfunn. Turismeutviklingen har gitt lokalsamfunnene sysselsettingsmuligheter og økonomisk vekst, samtidig som denne utviklingen har resultert i nedgang i tradisjonell praksis og økte levekostnader. I tillegg viser det seg mange lokalsamfunn ikke blir inkludert i beslutningsprosesser som inngår i deres område.

This bachelor´s thesis aimed to explore various consequences of UNESCO World Heritage tourism and its effects on local communities. The research question for this thesis is “What are the consequences of UNESCO WH recognition for a destination.” The first part of this thesis presents the theory. It forms the basis for later discussion together with the results of the research articles. In addition to providing a general overview of UNESCO´s purpose, this assignment will include previous research on the consequences of tourism and visitor management. A systematic literature analysis was used in order to answer the chosen problem. During the literature search, eight research articles were selected to explain and discuss. Based on the preparation of this thesis, tourism development will have many positive and negative effects on a destination, especially on a local community. Tourism development has given the local communities employment opportunities and economic growth. At the same time, this development has resulted in a decline in traditional practices and increased living costs. In addition, many local communities are not included in decision-making processes that are part of their area.
