Abstract

Sammendrag Problemstillingen i denne studien er ikke lagt frem som et spørsmål, men mer som et studiefelt: Familien Herlofson sin rolle i Arendalskrakket på sent 1800 tallet. Det vil bli sett på hvordan en av de mest innflytelsesrike og rike familiene i Arendal på tiden rundt et stort økonomisk krakk var involvert. Og da hvordan Arendal som sjøfarts by har endret seg både før og etter dette krakket.

Summary The issue in this study is not presented as a question, but more as a field of study: The Herlofson family's role in the Arendal crash in the late 19th century. It will be focused on how one of the most influential and wealthy families in Arendal at the time around a major economic crash was involved. And then how Arendal as a maritime city has changed both before and after this crash.
