Marco Polo Bro-hendelsen – fra skuddutveksling til en full utløsende krig

Abstract

Denne oppgaven undersøker følgende problemstilling: Hvordan reagerte det internasjonale samfunnet på Marco Polo bro-hendelsen, og hvilken rolle spilte de i å løse konflikten? Landene jeg vil fokusere på er USA, Frankrike og Storbritannia. Oppsummert viser oppgaven at det internasjonale samfunnet jobbet på ulike måter for å unngå krig og skape en fredelig løsning, samtidig som de fordømte Marco Polo bro-hendelsen og oppfordret partene til å løse konflikten gjennom dialog og forhandlinger.Marco Polo Bro-hendelsen kan sees som en del av en større og mer kompleks global sammenheng som førte til utbruddet av andre verdenskrig, og understreker viktigheten av diplomati og internasjonalt samarbeid for å unngå væpnet konflikt og sikre fred og stabilitet i verdenssamfunnet.

This thesis investigates the following issue: How did the international community react to the Marco Polo Bridge incident, and what role did they play in resolving the conflict? The countries I will focus on are the USA, France and the UK. In summary, the thesis shows that the international community worked in various ways to avoid war and create a peaceful solution, while at the same time condemning the Marco Polo Bridge incident and urging the parties to resolve the conflict through dialogue and negotiations. The Marco Polo Bridge incident can be seen as part of a larger and more complex global context, that led to the outbreak of the Second World War, and emphasizes the importance of diplomacy and international cooperation to avoid armed conflict and ensure peace and stability in the world community.
