Brexit – Yay or nay Historiebruk blant britiske politikere i forkant av avstemmingen om Brexit.

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven er en diskursanalyse av historiebruken til britiske politikere i forkant av folkeavstemningen rundt EU. Det denne studien viser er at det ikke er så stor forskjell i hvilke historiske eksempler de ulike sidene bruker, men at det er fortolkningen av disse som er forskjellig. Studien viser og at det ser ut til at politikerne er påvirket av hvilke roller de er i, slik at de vil bruke historiske eksempler som passer best til deres egen troverdighet (etos)

This bachelor's thesis is a discourse analysis of the use of history by British politicians ahead of the referendum on the EU. What this study shows is that there is not such a big difference in which historical examples the various sides use, but that it is the interpretation of these that is different. The study also shows that it appears that the politicians are influenced by the roles they are in, so that they will use historical examples that best suit their own credibility (ethos)
