Konsekvenser ved uansvarlig turisme: påvirkningen på lokalsamfunn

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven tar for seg på hvilken måte fraværende bærekraft i turismeindustrien påvirker lokalsamfunn ved spesifikke destinasjoner. Undersøkelsen fokuserer på to casestudier hvor bærekraft er fraværende, og ett casestudie hvor bærekraft er satt i fokus. Problemstillingen lyder som følger: • Hvordan påvirker manglende integrasjon av bærekraftige praksiser i reiselivsnæringen lokalsamfunner i områder med høy turisttrafikk? Gjennom casestudiene av Barcelona og Dubrovnik undersøkes de negative konsekvensene ved uansvarlig turisme. Det inkluderer blant annet miljøforurensning, press på infrastruktur, tap av kulturell identitet og sosiale konflikter. Byene står overfor utfordringer som økt luft- og støyforurensning, gentrifisering, og en turismeavhengig økonomi.

Som en kontrast presenteres Benidorm, en destinasjon som har implementert bærekraftige og smarte turistpraksiser. Casestudien viser hvordan integrering av bærekraftige løsninger kan bidra til økonomisk stabilitet, forbedret livskvalitet for innbyggerne, og samtidig øke turistopplevelsen.

This bachelor's thesis examines how the absence of sustainability in the tourism industry affects local communities at specific destinations. The study focuses on two case studies where sustainability is absent and one case study where sustainability is emphasized.

The research question is as follows: • How does the lack of integration of sustainable practices in the tourism industry affect local communities in areas with a significant tourist influx?

Through the case studies of Barcelona and Dubrovnik, the negative consequences of irresponsible tourism are examined. These include environmental pollution, pressure on infrastructure, loss of cultural identity, and social conflicts. The cities face challenges such as increased air and noise pollution, gentrification, and a tourism-dependent economy.

In contrast, Benidorm is presented as a destination that has implemented sustainable and smart tourism practices. The case study shows how the integration of sustainable solutions can contribute to economic stability, improved quality of life for residents, and enhanced tourist experiences.
