A sociolinguistic study on code switching: A comparison between Vegard Harm´s Code-Switching in podcast versus live television.

Abstract

My main aim for this thesis was to develop a greater understanding of why Vegard Harm CS when he does, whilst comparing his CS in comfortable versus non-comfortable settings. As there are no other studies done on this exact topic, I didn´t have too many expectations. Whilst exploring my own thoughts in partnership with diverse theory, I gained a substantially amount of knowledge on the topic. I have discussed several aims and motivations for Harm´s CS to American English this far. Even though I understand these choices and reasons, it is still hard to identify exactly why he CS more frequently in podcast compared to live television.
