Abstract
In today’s world, where misinformation spreads rampantly, the pressing need for reliablefact-checking solutions is greater than ever. Manual fact-checking is a daunting task,emphasising the need for efficient and engaging solutions. This collaborative thesiswith Factiverse focuses on increasing user engagement by gamifying the fact-checkingapplications within the platform. The main objective is to combat misinformation bydeveloping a personalised dashboard for fact-checking applications, providing users with aseamless and interactive experience. The dashboard aims to enhance user engagement andaccessibility, empowering individuals to participate in the fight against misinformationactively. Through user feedback, the thesis identifies a user base interested in fact-checkingapplications that respond positively to gamification. The thesis suggests future directionsfor the platform, including increased customisation options, user data aggregation, andfact-checking and microfact minigames. We also present a process for organising a teamproject, which results in good documentation of intentions and goals.
