På sportet av omsorg i barnehagen

Abstract

I denne masteroppgaven har jeg vært “på sporet av omsorg i barnehagen”. Hensikten med oppgaven har vært å avdekke omsorgsforståelsen hos de ansatte i barnehagen. Grunnlaget for studien er problemstillingen “Hvilken omsorgsforståelse finner en hos ansatte i barnehagen?”. I studien har jeg benyttet meg av kvalitativ metode, hvor jeg har intervjuet fem barnehageansatte, to barnehagelærere, en barne- og ungdomsarbeider, en lærling og en styrer. Dette for å undersøke bredden av omsorgsforståelsen en finner hos ansatte i barnehagen.

Jeg har brukt innholdsanalyse og dobbelt hermeneutikk når jeg arbeidet med analysen. Videre har jeg brukt aduktive kategorier til å analysere og drøfte de sentrale aspektene i studien. Kategoriene jeg kom frem til har sitt utspring fra problemstilling og tilhørende forskningsspørsmål. Kategoriene som blir drøftet i oppgaven vil være “barnehagepersonalets forståelse av omsorgsbegrepet”, “barnehagepersonalets erfaringer og opplevelser knyttet til, omsorg i praksis” og “barnehagepersonalets erfaringer og opplevelser knyttet til hvilken rolle rammeplanen spiller for deres omsorg”.

Gjennom denne studien formidler samtlige av barnehagens ansatte omsorg som et produkt av verdier og holdning i like stor grad som en faglig kompetanse, med føring fra styringsdokumentet rammeplanen for barnehagen. Sentralt for deres forståelse gjennom det de ansatte formidler er at det å skape gode tilknytninger til barna er viktig, et fellesskap med tilhørighet, tillit, rom for trøst og å anerkjenne barns behov og uttrykk. Samtidig som det i denne studien avdekkes ulikheter mellom pedagogenes (inkludert styrer) pedagogiske forståelse av omsorg og fagarbeider og lærlingens relasjonelle forståelse av omsorg. Resultatene i denne studien indikerer at det er ulike omsorgsforståelse hos de ansatte i barnehagen. Avslutningsvis i studien trekker jeg frem studiens begrensninger, hvilken betydning undersøkelsen har for fagfeltet, samt forslag til hva det vil være interessant å undersøke videre.

In this master's thesis, I have been "on the track of care in the kindergarten". The purpose of the master thesis has been to uncover the understanding of care among the employees in the kindergarten. The basis of the study is the question "Which understanding of care do you find in staff at the kindergarten?". In the study, I used a qualitative method, where I interviewed five kindergarten employees with different education. Two with higher education, one with a vocational qualification, one apprentice, as well as the head of the kindergarten. This to examine the breadth of the understanding of care that can be found among employees in the kindergarten.

I have used content analysis and double hermeneutics when working with the analysis. Furthermore, I have used adductive categories to analyze and discuss the central aspects of the study. The categories I use are based on the research question, associated research questions, as well as the material that was obtained from the informants in the interviews. The categories that will be discussed in this thesis will be "the kindergarten employees' understanding of the concept of care", "the kindergarten employees' experiences related to care in practice" and "the kindergarten employees' experiences related to the role the framework plan for kindergartens plays in their care".

Through this study, all of the kindergarten's employees convey care as a product of values and attitude to the same extent as professional competence, guided by the management document, the framework plan for the kindergartens. Central to their understanding through what the employees communicate is that it is important to create good connections with the children, a community with belonging, trust and to recognize children's needs and expressions. At the same time, this study reveals differences between the employees with higher education (including the leader) pedagogical understanding of care and skilled workers and the apprentice's relational understanding of care. The results of this study indicate that there are different understandings of care among the employees of the kindergarten. Finally, I highlight the limitations of the study, the significance of the research for the field, as well as suggestions for what would be interesting to investigate further.
