Abstract

The thesis seeks to investigate which factors seem to heighten the risk of employees bullying and/or infringing on children’s rights in kindergarden. The empirical data was collected through qualitative interview with three pedagogical leaders, thereafter categorised and analysed. Central to the thesis is bullying as phenomenon in kindergarten, the employee’s ethical responsibility and preventative measures. This thesis concludes that factors such as personal views, shortage of staff and insufficient ability to work as a team can increase the risk of employees behaving in an infringing manner. The findings indicate that the underlying reasons for employees bullying children are complex, and incidents require individual assessment and action. The preventative measures seem to most commonly be focused around professional knowledge, continuous reflection of work practices, and effort to foster safe attachment in employee-child relations.
